Learn about GM DPS (GM DPS Introduction)

    Started by Troy,

GM Development programming system, aka DPS, is an in-house software that General Motors technicians use to develop software for GM vehicle electronic modules. DPS functions similarly to the GM SPS client. By itself, DPS can only perform the basic function of reading the ECU VIN and basic information. To program a module using DPS, you must acquire the corresponding calibration files and custom DPS scripts to complete any DPS programming. Only limited information, and no complete documentation, is available to the public on using DPS. All the information posted on this website about DPS was developed over time through a routine trial-and-error process. Note: You must have …

Hello everyone, I am working on restoring the hidden Navigation icon on my factory infotainment system. All physical hardware, including the remote SD card reader module and wiring harnesses, are 100% intact and undamaged, but the system is currently hiding the Nav interface shortcut. I am using an offline GM DPS setup paired with a VXDIAG VCX Nano (J2534 Pass-Thru). Can anyone provide or help me modify a calibration configuration file (.vbf) to force-toggle the Navigation Option Available parameter bit flag from False to True? Hello, I would like to read an Adam BCM on the table. I also connected it according to the wiring diagram X1 power supply,X2 Can HS,X3 ignition voltage with a switch. The relays switch at voltage and ignition voltage. But I don't get any communication with the BCM. Whether with MDI2, OPCOM or I/O terminal. The same with a second BCM. I don't understand that many have already done it this way. Maybe someone else has a tip for me. Thank you very much. In addition, I have connected to X2 Can Low, so I have access to the radio at the table.

Hello! Chevrolet Trailblazer 2 had its electric power steering (EPS) replaced with a different part number, 84494271. Will changing the calibrations from 84579653 (the original EPS) to 84494271 help? The VIN is registered, but error C056E occurs. The EPS needs to be calibrated after updating the calibrations? Thanks. GCI_Log_84494271.Txt GCI_Log_84579653.Txt

Hello and good evening everyone, Today I bought a new Opel VCI, which was accidentally ordered from a workshop, and found out that you need software that is not available for download on the Bosch website, like the GM MDI Manager. I also couldn’t find it anywhere online. I would really appreciate it if anyone can provide or does know where I can get the VCI Manager for Opel/Vauxhall. Kind regards and good evening

Hello, So I was doing a Configuration of IPC (UDD) via XML with DPS, and this cluster could not proceed - showed "Security Algorithm Error", or something along these lines.. This is strange, because I was programming with the very same XML p/n it already has (13492927.xml). The XML file was taken from SPS cache - so it couldn't be altered by someone.. XML file have algo No.21. I have also checked the utility file for the same gen cluster - it also has algo 21 for 0x27 step. Current cal.files inside the cluster does correspond to what t2w cal info page is showing (only "Warnings" calibration have newer revision). So it looks like everything is original, and last progra…

Hey guys! I'm having a problem with the radio module; I've paused for a moment because I don't understand what's going on. Radio Data List: Radio Theft Lock Armed - Armed Radio Theft Lock Status - Inactive The display is blank—black. When the car arrived, it had a non-OEM EBCM installed. I changed the PIN and VIN and programmed latest calibration by SPS, then completed IMMO Learning, adding 1 new key . All programming went smoothly and successfully. But the radio won't turn on, and there's some garbage in the IMMO data lists—Environment Identification—Unknown. Has anyone else had something like this? Where should I look for the problem?

Hi guys, you've probably had to read the BCM's EEPROM at some point and edited some values, and when you programmed it, you likely encountered a checksum error in DPS, similar to the "get controller information" error, right? Well, the BCM's EEPROM has checksum checks throughout the file using checksum-16. Calculating it is simple. The EEPROM is divided into 64-byte blocks where 00-01 would be the checksum, and 02-64 the data. This data includes the PIN, VIN, odometer, programmed keys, etc. If you edit something, select the 62 bytes, and in HXD (it should be similar in the Neo hex editor) calculate the checksum-16. Now, go to the Windows calculator, perform a NOT …

Hello everyone, I've been struggling with a problem for a while now and I don't know how to solve it. I have the IPC, BCM, ECU, HVAC, Silvrbox HMI2.5, and radio display all connected according to the diagrams, unless I've made a mistake somewhere. I can't access the vehicle function; I get a message that the car must be in motion. How do I trick this for this function to work? Best regards to everyone.

Hello everyone! I'm curious: can anyone on the forum convert the firmware from a .bin file to a .zip file so I can use it in the GM DPS program? Can anyone tell me how to do this? There's a paid course, and I might consider purchasing it. Maybe Mr. Troy will release such a course. Due to limited equipment, I can only work through the GM DPS program for now, and this seems more reliable to me, so if something goes wrong, you can easily return everything to stock. P.S. Sorry for any mistakes, I use an online translator.

Hello, Should the battery parameters (mainly, Ah capacity) somehow be adjusted for BCM when installing bigger sized battery? I can see that one of the BCM calibrations changes between similarly engined vehicles, but with different RPO for battery Ah and alternator output current capacities. Should I look for this one particular cal from vehicle with 95Ah battery, for example, if stock is for 75Ah?
