GM USA Satellite Radio And HMI 2.5, HMI 2.0 Module VIN Number Relearn DPS File

$200

1 Screenshot

This file will activate the HMI 2.5, HMI 2.0 and USA Satellite Radio module for GM IO6/IO5 to learn whatever VIN is stored in the BCM module.

One file which will relearn the VIN for both the Radio and HMI modules.
Remove the Theft lock from both the Radio and HMI module.
Great if you want to install a used HMI and Radio module into your car.

This file only works with the GM USA satellite radio module. It doesn't work on the European Opel/Vauxhall SilverBox radio module.

Click here for the European Opel/Vauxhall SilverBox radio module DPS VIN change file.

Check out this article, which demonstrates how to gain wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto for GM vehicles that use the HMI 2.5 module.

Play the video to see the process.

Ensure your satellite radio module looks like the one in the photos below.

Hi, you need to use DPS software to install/program the file you bought onto the radio module.

Check your PM.

Hi Troy - Using your file I just reset the VIN on my new IO6 radio and HMI on my 2019 after getting ahold of an MDI-2 interface; thanks so much as this was my last stumbling block to adding the PDR in addition to NAV in my vehicle. Thanks again my friend for your answers and help !!!.....Don

Hi, thanks for your feedback. It’s always nice to hear about successful repairs. By the way, what is PDR?

PDR is short for performance data recorder - which is like having a GoPro facing forward with the added addition of speed, RPM, braking, throttle, G force and steering angle on the screen and recorded as well; works out great if you take it to the track on weekends…..

Cool. On this attached photo I see an icon name recorder. Is the recorder icon used for recording the PDR in the HMI 2.5?

hello.
I got a brand new HMI (2.0) from eBay because my HMI broke down.
Replaced old (1.1) I plugged it into the vehicle and tried to do SPS2 programming, it says VIN is missing and cannot continue.
When diagnosed with GDS, only the first character of VIN could not be read.
Is there any solution?

I only have solution to remove theft lock from a used HMI module.

使用済みの HMI モジュールから盗難ロックを取り外す方法しかありません。

Thank you.
Why do you think so?
Is the new HMI no longer usable?

You will need to program a new VIN in the HMI for it to function. This file will activate the HMI for it to learn the VIN that's stored in the BCM module. Then use SPS to program the HMI module.

機能させるには、HMI で新しい VIN をプログラムする必要があります。このファイルは、BCM モジュールに保存されている VIN を学習するために HMI をアクティブにします。次に、SPS を使用して HMI モジュールをプログラムします。

It looks like you got a new HMI. VIN is not programmed.
It's not used, but is it possible to read VIN from BCM with such HMI?

No the new hmi will not read vin automatically. You have to manually tell the hmi to learn the vin. That is what this file does.

いいえ、新しい hmi は自動的に vin を読み取りません。hmi に vin を学習させるよう手動で指示する必要があります。それがこのファイルの機能です。

In the process video it looks like you are programming the VIN to whatever number you like.
Do I have to change the VIN number on the BCM?
I don't want to change the VIN.

The video demonstrates altering the VIN in BCM and getting the HMI to learn the altered BCM VIN. No you do not change VIN in BCM. You tell the HMI to learn the VIN that is coded in the BCM module.

Will the file work even if I enter the original VIN (2G61U~) in the VIN entry field?

I bought it.
In my case, I want to change the HMI, so should I enter "8F" in the ECU Address/ID of the DPS?

There is a video file in the folder that you downloaded. The video demonstrate how to use the file to change the VIN in the HMI.

Hello. My HMI 2.5 died on me, so I bought another from eBay with intention to swap memory chip from my old one (did that on many modules before with success). But on this one I could not find the chip (usually SO-8 serial memory). Probably they store it differently this time. So now I need either send it to someone or program it myself. I just finish DPS installation. You are pointing that Satellite radio has to be "like that". I don't know how mine looks like, but it is Yukon 2015 with IO6. Is there any way to program one module, not two at ones? It would be nice to have an option to chose ONE/Another/Both. I don't want to fix one and mess another one.

Thanks

For Yukon can use this file.

This Dps file does not alter any coding on the modules and is 100% safe to use to remove the HMI theft lock.
