No, apparently person in China who sells stalks have his own calibration worked out(which I asked my mate to keep, once everything is done). But it didn't work, and he was told that wiring is an issue and might need additional wire to BCM.

I mean, it's certainly possible that we don't have the right wire for that communication line; that being said, given that clusters and steering wheels are plug and play as between the Buick and Opel vehicles, I would be shocked to learn that something as comparatively simple as a multifunction stalk wouldn't work.

 

Also, my current BCM calibration can activate the Rainsense system when turned to intermittent; as covered elsewhere, however, I simply don't have the correct cutout in the front windshield for the sensor to operate properly.  (I may try to relocate the sensor at some point through some Red Green-type methods, but I'm more concerned with getting the auto high beams operational at the moment.)  If Rainsense works that way, it would seem to me that the auto high beams would work that way too.

Plausibly dumb follow-up question: should the XML for the cluster have a line for enabling TQ5?  The one I've been using, attached here, does not seem to have it.

I don't believe it should. Cluster only have indication for both auto_high_beam_active_enable(you have this disabled btw) and rainsense_indicator_enabled-activates with CE1 RPO code.

But it doesn't enable that, I'd imagine BCM/HMI only should have enable.

That was my thought as well, but never hurts to ask.

 

I did try switching the light option around in the IPC XML file, to no effect.  

 

@WSOpel, based on the way the Rainsense system seems to work, I really don't think there's any additional wiring from the control stalk to the BCM - it makes no sense that the setup on one side of the steering column is identical but the other side of the column is missing wiring.

News from China. The guy told my mate to get wire 18 connected to module k9(BCM? I don't have module designator in front of me).

OK, so, here's the equivalent wiring diagram as those above from the US service manual:

 

 

From this, it would appear as though US cars are altogether missing the "wire 18" which would tell the BCM to activate the automatic high beam system.

 

However, @WSOpel's diagram from what I assume is the German service manual implies, if I'm reading the diagram correctly, that this "wire 18" is also a communication line between the BCM and the following modules/functions:

 

1. K38 Chassis Control Module

2. KSA Cruise Control-Automatic, Adaptive With Stop/Go, Speed Governor

3. TQ5 Headlamp High Beam-Auto Control

4. UVD Steering Wheel Heat-Manual 

5. T4L Headlamps-LED

 

I've bolded the last two because my TourX has both of these features stock, and others have found that Insignia steering wheels are basically plug and play on TourXes so long as the source Insignia had the same mix of features (adaptive cruise, heated wheel, etc.)

 

I have no idea how to visually verify the existence or non-existence of this wire in my car, but I would think that having the heated wheel and LED headlamps implies that this "wire 18" is present and properly connected in my vehicle.  Thoughts?

Just because I'm an idiot and am not quite sure what I'm looking at here: these two pictures are of the two ends of one of the harnesses/cables plugged into the BCM, and I need to verify that there is a wire/voltage between the spots highlighted there using the instructions in the service manual, correct? 

 

My build sheet doesn't have TQ5 or UVG, to be clear, but the US service manual tells me I should only have a headlamp control module in the cabin *with* UVG and I have one, for whatever that's worth.  I can also activate the auto high beam indicator in the cluster by commanding all the indicators to light up through GDS2 - would that be an indication that this wire is present and functional?

 

 

 

 

The little Plug is the Connector from the steering column lever. On Pin 4 it need a Wire that goes throw the BCM X2 Pin 18. No if you can activate it over GDS it will not say that the wire is present.

GDS just tells it to light up- nothing more, nothing less.

Figured as much, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Got it.  One last dumb question: which port/color is X2 on the BCM?  I would guess it'd be the blue slot based on the plug pattern, but just want to confirm.

it was markt with Bu so i think is Blue

Does that mean that I should expect to find the wire is present and connected to the BCM harness, but disconnected from the turn signal harness?

Visual inspection results:

 

This is the left side turn signal harness connector. As you can see, pins 1-3 are present, but no pin 4.

 

 

BCM X2 harness plug. Does not appear to be a pin in slot #18. 

 

Seems pretty clear that I need to do some custom wiring to make the auto high beams work, unless there's a way to program around the existing wiring. 

 

Custom wiring now complete. Surprisingly simple job to run the wire - the connectors were already crimped to a length of wire and had butt splice connectors included, and the routing wasn't too terrible all things considered. 

 

However, the Intellilux system still does not activate. I would assume this means I'm back to needing some kind of BCM calibration or camera XML config to make it work...

To have them working you need to have ADAS calibration. Is not only software. Without calibration they will not work as they are know out of alignment and will not go on. As well need to have button on stalk (will read all theme to see uf you are replace stalk)

When you say "ADAS calibration", @Lyubomir Krastanov, are you talking about the camera system setup in SPS and/or GDS?  (I know that if you don't run the "setup and configuration" program in SPS the camera will throw error codes, and in my experience making the camera work properly requires both SPS setup *and* GDS calibration.)  Do I need to run the setup again in either GDS or SPS with the wiring connected?  (Also, I have the stalk with the auto high beam button installed.)

 

Also, I have run into issues before with running "setup and configuration" on the BCM - when verifying odometer count, I've run into security code verification issues which I suspect are due to the UHS cluster I have installed.  Don't suppose anyone has XMLs for these configurations?

No, ADAS or ADAC calibration is done by garage with appropriate equipment. Is similar as calibrate ACC. Can be static or dynamic. Security code verifications is because u use different files of what you need it. Is complicated as your I assume is petrol. Mine is diesel. And I got UHS and Adaptive high beams. If need any files may can help with files.

Just ran it again.  Same effect as before - low beams stay on, but I can manually shut them off.  No automatic high beam activation.

 

I know the camera XML you provided had more options than the one I've been using, but I could not get it to successfully program to my camera.  Any possibilities to modify it?  (If it's helpful, the stock camera is part #84225592; I have a spare from an European car, part #84537123, but I've had success with programming the stock module for traffic sign recognition so if possible I'd like to keep running with that.)
