Thanks to the great community here, I've made quite a bit of progress on my campaign to program Insignia features into my TourX. To be exact, my front camera now recognizes speed limit signs and displays it in the cluster without error codes, and I've software programmed rain-sensing wipers into my BCM. (Alas, because GM North America didn't give us a windshield cutout for the sensor, they don't work. Yet.)

 

The only thing I'm roadblocked on is trying to get the Intellilux matrix headlamps to function. I'm fairly confident I have the headlamp control module, camera module, and cluster programmed correctly, and I've installed the correct switch to turn the system on, but it still doesn't work. 

 

Some of the headlamp controls on the TourX are different from Insignia Bs, meaning if I use BCM headlamp calibrations from an Insignia B on my vehicle I get weird things like auto headlamps deactivating, low beams permanently locked on, etc. So I'm stuck with the original TourX calibrations seemingly. 

 

Unless, of course, I can use the headlamp calibration from a Chevrolet Equinox, which has the identical low beam controls AND the high beam assist control I need. 

 

My TourX is a 2018, so I'd likely need the headlamp calibration from a 2018 Equinox Equinox with RPO TQ5. I have access to Techline/TIS, but I'm hoping someone has done this to a properly equipped Equinox before so I can take the lazy way out. 😉

Great thought - unfortunately, I've already tried that calibration, and it locks my low beams on without being able to activate high beam assist.

The stock TourX calibration is 39143006, which shows in TIS2Web as "Updated Calibration".  It appears to supersede 39097607, which is identified as a calibration for "Automatic Exterior Lights".  The same slot on Insignias is identified as "Headlamp Calibration".

 

I don't have the superseded calibration, but the extracted version of 39143006 is attached here if that's helpful.  

 

I haven't had a chance to test the Equinox calibration yet, but I plan on building the archive and attempting the program sometime this evening.

How do you know that camera feeds the speed limit signs and not GPS? Do you also have upgraded cluster? That's impressive work you have done there.

The answer to the first question is that the speed display system pulls from both the nav system and the camera - there are several roads in my home area which will either show blanks or an *incorrect* speed limit that then immediately corrects once the car passes a speed limit sign and holds until you turn off or encounter a different sign. 

 

And I do indeed have the upgraded cluster. (For those who aren't TourX owners, one of the most popular quasi-aftermarket modifications for these cars is to install the 8-inch cluster, RPO UHS, in lieu of the stock cluster with a much smaller screen. That and the recent discovery that Opel steering wheels are more or less plug and play on the TourX led me down the rabbit hole which got me to this website.) 

Are you on any tourX forums,FB groups etc? BTW for sign recognition you should have menu unlocked on the cluster- if you didn't yet.

Hi guys... saw this note on here and you guys may be just the people I need to talk to. Im looking for some assistance in getting a cal done in a BCM but dont know all the deep coding stuff. Feel like Im fluent here in the DPS, reading, loading, etc... just dont know all the deep stuff. Have some warning messages on IPC I cannot get to go away, even swapping ipc's so I feel like its BCM driven. Willing to pay for someone to assist me in this..

If IPC is not configured right you might get some random warnings.

I was able to test the Equinox calibration in a BCM archive this morning.  This was apparently a bad idea and should be avoided; it resulted in a programming error at 99% and left the car utterly unresponsive to the ignition button.  (The story has a happy ending, as I was able to get it back by using my more-or-less-stock BCM archive with wiper calibrations added; just the latest sphincter-tightening moment I've had along this journey, usually involving something I've done to the BCM.)

 

@WSOpel: this is the relevant info from TIS2Web for the stock vehicle.  I haven't had the opportunity to try your set of calibrations out yet, but hopefully that will happen sometime today/tonight.

@UniqezZZZ: you might have seen my posts in another TourX forum about swapping an Euro-spec camera module into my TourX, which was the lip of the rabbit hole. That led me to some deep dives into the service manual posted in that forum, which led me to discover that TourXs have all the wiring/hardware needed to theoretically make traffic sign detection/Rainsense/Intellilux work, which led me first to ACDelco to try Techline Connect out, which led me here.  The rest is, as they say, history.

 

@DSLBURB: If you have access to GDS2, you should be able to read the DTCs it's throwing at you, which would tell you exactly what's going on.  Probably the most common source of error messages would be VIN mismatching - if the VIN programmed in the IPC doesn't match the VIN programmed in the BCM or other modules, the IPC won't communicate with other modules and will throw a lot of error messages at you (and will also likely stop displaying odometer mileage).  @Troy's IPC VIN reprogram archive file will fix that for you.

@WSOpel, since I can't respond to DMs, I'll answer your question about retrofitting here:

 

The only retrofit I've done to my car is the addition of the 8-inch IPC, RPO UHS.  I initially experimented with using a European camera module, part number 84537123, in my vehicle; however, I was successful in reprogramming my stock camera module, part number 84225592, with the calibrations needed to read traffic signs.

 

I have a headlamp control module in the passenger cabin, forward of the driver's-side (left-hand) door, mounted against the sidewall; the service manual strongly indicates that the module is required for intelligent high beam to work, and I have successfully programmed it with calibrations that work with the rest of my car's setup.  (I ran into issues with a donor VIN from an Insignia B with a 4-link rather than a 5-link rear suspension - programming a 5-link suspension set up in the HCM solved the issue.)

Okay i think we have to write the XML again and than we can use this cals. The reason is the FCM is used for automatic light

I was playing around with the camera XML file earlier, but I didn't see any options related to automatic light control in it.  Maybe I'm getting a bad XML, I don't know.  (I haven't had any luck building out Type4 archives, so where configurations have been required I've been having to use SPS in combination with the VIN reprogramming archives or GDS2 - I've found you can do some things to the Type4s by manually editing the build files and/or XML files before committing to running them in SPS, but I've had zero luck actually assembling my own Type4 archive files for use in DPS.)

 

I can also confirm that of the .bin's you provided above, @WSOpel, 39142371-39142381 each lock the low beams in the "on" position without enabling high beam assist.  Perhaps unsurprising, but as seemingly simple as it is to flash archives with DPS I figured it'd be worth a shot.  I'll probably try the other three calibrations tonight or tomorrow just to see what happens.

Which light sensor?  Mine has at least three that I know of:

 

1.  Top middle of the dashboard - not covered at all

2.  Forward of the camera module, clipped in place against the windshield - on American cars this only appears to function as an ambient temperature sensor and the windshield does not have a frit cutout for it in the middle, even though it appears physically identical to the rain sensors found on Insignia Bs.  (The BCM archive file I refer to as "stock" has the Rainsense software calibration enabled, but triggers code U0151 (lost communication with rain sensor module) in the BCM and will not actually operate the wipers.)

3.  On the back of the rearview mirror - not covered at all.

 

As far as programmable features in the camera module, I don't know what "Drive Mode Control 3" is, but the stock TourX has everything but AHBA, TSM, DDS, and GFHB, and I have TSM currently active on my vehicle.

Yes, part (1) in that diagram is the sensor I reference in my (2). Visually identical across the Insignia/TourX line, but I don't have a windshield cutout for it on mine, just the sensor.

that's why your automatic High beam  doesn't work on car and your rain sensor doesn't do anything. But it is mandatory for the Auto function. I will make you a Cal without this option. It may be that we have to adjust the front camera because this is responsible for the Led blanking of the matrix list.
