Hi guys

I’m facing an issue while testing the V-Series cluster theme on my vehicle, and I would like to ask for your guidance on how to resolve it.

I own a 2022 Cadillac Escalade Sport, and I experimented by applying a V-Series VIN configuration to the digital cluster. The V-Series theme did successfully appear on the cluster, and visually everything looked correct.

However, after applying this configuration, every time I start the vehicle I now receive the following message on the cluster:

“Service Steering Column Lock”

Based on my understanding, the steering column lock feature is exclusive to the Escalade V model, and my vehicle does not physically have this hardware installed. Because of that, I believe the message is being triggered by the V-Series configuration rather than an actual mechanical fault.

My questions are:

• Is there a known solution or workaround for this issue?

• Alternatively, is there a configuration method similar to what you use that avoids triggering this warning message?

Hi, if that IPC supports XML file editing and you have the necessary XML files, you can disable the DTC in the IPC XML file using IPC XML file editing and programming with DPS. I’m not sure if that specific IPC supports XML. The tutorial on activating and deactivating features and DTC via XML file is below.

As @blocked said that vehicle is Global-B. The XML files method will not work on that vehicle, and I don't know of a solution.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade Sport has a steering column lock. It has a module as well. You will have to check if it has a VIN as well. If so then there is a VIN mismatch.

Get the wiring diagram.

Thanks for the clarification.

In our region, I think the Escalade 2021+ models are delivered without a steering column lock, which is why this behavior is unexpected. What’s interesting is that the Escalade V models do come equipped with a steering column lock, which explains why the V-Series configuration triggers this message.

It seems I may need to look for a V-Series VIN configuration that does not include the steering column lock, so the cluster theme can be used without triggering the warning.

I’ll dig deeper into this and review the wiring and VIN behavior further.🤔🤦🏽‍♂️

I provided him with multiple VINs:

- Three Escalade V (GCC spec) VINs

- One Escalade V (US spec) VIN

- And my own vehicle’s VIN

After verifying the steering column lock compatibility, the results showed that all Escalade V VINs (GCC and US) have a steering column lock part number associated with them,

while my VIN does NOT show any steering column lock part at all.

This confirms that the warning message is being triggered by the V-Series VIN configuration rather than actual hardware present on my vehicle.

So based on your findings, RPO G2A (V-Sport) is always paired with RPO N06 (steering wheel/column lock) from GM’s side, which explains why enabling any V-Series configuration triggers the steering lock requirement.

In my case, since my vehicle does not have RPO N06 physically, the IPC correctly throws the Service Steering Column Lock message once a V-based configuration is applied.

You need to find the call ID responsible for the "V-Sport" theme, not the "N06". The next step would be to change only this one in your car, leaving the others as original.

Get the Steering column lock and the module, the wires are on the car, plug them in and do the programming. Vehicle safety.

Are you sure it’s really that simple?

From my understanding, the steering column lock system tends to cause more issues than benefits, and honestly, I prefer the vehicle without it.

Also, I believe this is not a simple plug-and-play installation and would likely require replacing the entire main wiring harness, not just adding the module and programming.

Understood. I will proceed with comparing the Call IDs as you suggested, identify the one responsible for the V-Sport theme, and attempt to change it if possible.

Based on your experience, is this actually feasible in practice, especially on these platforms, or is it more of a theoretical approach?

I’ll keep you updated with any findings or progress.

I think it's possible. I haven't done it, but it would be very interesting to do and I have the necessary tools for it.
