Hello every one, newbie her. I am a car enthusiast who likes challenges and likes to help friends around with their builds. With that said, I am new to the GM world. And by the way I hope this topic is not a double. The challenge I am actually facing is the greatest I've come across. A friend of mine had a loose negative battery pole, ending up frying the EBCM. After a proper diagnostic and the replacement of the module, only one fault code remains, something like "wrong immo data received". Car do not start because to my understanding, BCM sends the immo to the EBCM which send it the ECM, so car can start. After hours of browsing and internet research, I found this website, which by the way is a blessing and very interesting. So forgive me in advance for any rule breaking. Car is a 2011 Opel Insignia A and the EBCM is the same part number. Tools at my disposal are Opcom, Tech2WIN GDS2 and DPS. I also have a CHIPSOFT J2531 PRO interface, hoping this will be enough to do the Job. I believe I will be needing a "EBCM VIN change file" ! We can get the PIN Code via our local Opel seller, providing the salvaged module's VIN number. Now for the procedure, I am kind of stuck. If any kind should could point me into any direction, this would be amazing and so much helpful. I have seen a couple of vids showing the VIN programming with the vin change file, which is not present in my DPS library. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

I have seen a few vehicles which had incorrect VIN & PIN in EBCM module - and all were driving fine. There was an error code you have mentioned, but it did not prevented car from starting.
It only becomes an issue when there are at least 3 modules in the car from donor vehicles which have not been "mated" correctly to the vehicle (VIN/PIN change)..

Possibly you have some other issues which prevent car from starting. Or a few non-original modules installed - then you need to reduce this number.

Post full scan log from GDS2 (in PDF or HTML format).

Thanks so much for responding! The EBCM is the only salvaged module. Everything else belongs to the car. And there are no other fault codes. But since the EBCM has an immo, wouldn't it prevent the car from starting?

As I have already mentioned - GM allows to have a few donor modules installed in the vehicle.

You will not, however, be able to start the engine if the battery was disconnected, or after a SPS/DPS programming event - you must do a power cycle with a "bus rest" for ~5 minutes first.

I have personally worked with same gen Insignia A and Ampera G1 with donor EBCMs - all drove and left on their own.

Anyway, for 2011MY it is very easy to have this fixed, if you can easily gather security PIN codes from your local dealership.

Get the codes and share the VIN for this vehicle.

Can be done remotely with DPS.

Already have it! But while I was scanning the car today, got a certificate issue with the software, so I'll have that fix then you will guide how to proceed!

Hey mate, you were right. Programmed the EBCM today and still did not start! Everything is ok except the fuel coming from the injector ramp, just dripping. So I am suspecting the HP pump fuel pressure regulator; I will check that tomorrow!

Fuel pump works, glow plugs are ok, and there are no more fault codes.

Problem solved, now starting! A brand-new bad crankshaft sensor!
