GM Radio/SilverBox USA satellite and HMI 2.5 module VIN number Relearn, remove theft lock with GM DPS

This file will activate the HMI 2.5 and Radio/SilverBox module to learn whatever VIN number that's stored in the BCM module.

One file which will relearn the VIN Number for both the Radio/SilverBox and HMI module.
Remove the Theft lock from both the Radio/SilverBox and HMI module.
Great if you want to install a used HMI and Radio/SilverBox to your car.

HMI and Radio/SilverBox file. FOR OPEL SilverBOX. Not for USA satellite radio module

HMI and USA Satellite Radio file. FOR USA Satellite Radio module. Not for EU Silver box radio module

I am new to all this.  I have a question.  Is it possible to use this method and "sniff" the process and then play back the canbus network traffic that the sniffer captured to do the task again?  I put together a working canbus sniffer using a youtube tutorial that uses canbus gui.  I can capture and send packets.  I would be happy to use this method first and sniff it, but then leave the j2534 device behind and just use my tiny arduino to do the sps program the second time, if it is possible.

I pulled a 2.5 HMI from a 2017 Corvette with carplay and installed it in my 2015 GMC Sierra 2500. I got the HMI unlocked to my vin but the Corvette logo and calibration is still in the module. If I upload my calibration through SPS in the HMI will it mess it up and lose carplay?

Hi, if the 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 originally came with the HMI-v2, you will need to find a GMC Sierra 2500 VIN number from a later car maybe 2016 or 2017 then use that vin number in sps to program the HMI v2.5 in order to get your logo and spec back.

If you program your car that now has the the HMI 2.5 using your car's vin, you will be installing the older HMI v2 files on to a HMI v2.5 which will not work.

Hey, I read through and looked at the tutorials on here but am still a little confused exactly what I need to do for the HMI 2.5 upgrade.  After I change the vin in the radio and HMI with your file, do I download the latest calibration file from sps for my vehicle or does it have to be the sps for a newer version of my vehicle since mine originally came with the 2.0 hmi?  Also do I need to upgrade or reprogram the instrument cluster?  Some posts say that has to be done as well.  Thanks in advance for any help.

For an online SPS2 cal update you would have to use a VIN from a car which had a HMI2.5 from factory, obviously. Or just inject correct calibrations with DPS app.

For EU Opel/Vauxhall models you need to update three modules to the latest software - HMI, IPC (instrument cluster) and RADIO (Silverbox).
All three have "USB file transfer" update files which needs to be run first, after which you need to sort calibration data too.

I guess this should be true also for USDM vehicles.

Thanks! Also It looks like some of the tutorials show the ability to change the VIN with DPS? I am thinking of upgrading my Onstar Cellular module as well while I have things torn apart, but I'm not sure if I would be able to change the VIN on the used unit.

Just bought the software, but the DPS application is not included. it's not included in the zip file?

You can get some Dps versions free  in this website.
