Trying to retrofit touchpad on my Insignia A FL. I have the touchpad active on my hmi, the device and some loom for it, but I don't know where the wires should go.

Can anyone help me with the pinout for touchpad and where I should connect the wires?

Hi, and Happy New Year to you too.

The touchpad is mainly connected to the HMI. You can tap into the HMI's battery power, ground, and MOST lines. Since the HMI does not have low-speed Canbus lines, you can tap into the low-speed Canbus lines on the HVAC or the LCD screen connector wires. I hope this helps.

 

Here are the HMI, touchpad, LCD screen and HVAC schematics.

TouchPAD

 

 

Connect the touchpad MOST lines to the HMI X2 connector wires.

 

 

Get power from the HMI X1 connector wire.

 

 

Connect the touchpad low-speed Canbus to the LCD screen or the HVAC connector wire.

Hi @Troyand thanks for the schematics. I just finished the wiring, but I have an issue. My display is black with touchpad connected, but touchpad lights up. If i disconnect one of the MostSerialdata +/- no matter what pair, the HMI starts up and picture is displayed on screen. Both pairs of MostSerialData are connected separately on both pairs of the HMI connector. Can be some issue with the programming?

If the most bus is open, screen cant turn on. check if KOT its connected ok to the most bus

I've disconnected the wire on the touchpad connector, not on hmi

Yeap, all connections are right, triple check them. Or is something wrong with the calibration or the touchpad is faulty.

I'm rebuilding cal7 now, also had some issue with reverse camera so it's time to do it.

The MOST data lines work by connecting in a loop, going in one direction from one module to the next.  
Cut the HMI X2 connector wires PIN 9 and 8, and connect the wire ends that are connected to the HMI X2 connector to the Touchpad PIN 4 and 8. Connect the other two cut wires to the touchpad PIN 6 and 2.

damn, didn't know that it should be in the loop. I've connected the touchpad in parallel with hmi. Thanks @Troy

Hi, good morning to you too.

After cutting the HMI X2 PIN 8 and PIN 9 wires, the HMI PIN 8 and PIN 9 wires that are attached to the HMI X2 connector plug (the plug that gets pushed into the HMI port), connect those two wires to the Touchpad's PIN 4 and PIN 8 sockets PINs.

Then, connect the other two HMI cut wires, PIN 8 and PIN 9, which are connected to the IPC, to the Touchpad's PIN 2 and PIN 6 socket PINs.

Take a look at the schematics below, with and without the Touchpad, to gain an understanding of how the Touchpad module is integrated into the circuit loop.
