If its of any help to anyone, in my case the highlighted byte is what caused the mileage to still display dashes even after the VIN and PIN were successfully changed.
01 = Odometer Lock Status 'Active'  -  dashes are displayed on the bench or in the car.
00 = Odometer Lock Status 'Inactive'  -  last known mileage is displayed on the bench and correct current mileage read from the BCM is displayed in the car.

Cool info. Thanks for sharing.

Would anyone by chance have the files to make this change with only having DPS right now?

Just an FYI,  I use the Andromeda AR-32 it reads eeproms in-circuit (no removal) and they have a very cool accu-touch probe attachment.

It also allows for variable read and write voltages so if you have issues waking up the micro and causing data collisions you can drop the voltage and keep the micro down.

This tool has been bullet proof for all my eprom work.

Hi Guys,

I have the same problem. I changed the VIN number but the Odometer status lock active.

Could you tell me from this dump which bit I need to change?

Thanks for the help,

Here is the comment by pistnbroke that shows how to fix it.

Why change Eeprom?
Should have just read the current stored PIN and programmed with the vehicle PIN/VIN inside the car (need to write old/new PIN where needed, of course!).
Job's done.

And you also shouldn't connect to online SPS with a VCX device.. You will get banned.
Can you connect to IPC with GDS2?
I think you should load original EEPROM file back, if you made a backup - to restore communication with DPS. After that, VIN/PIN change can be done over OBD port with DPS.

  • Contributor

Yes i made an backup but lost it because of an copy fail on my ssd. I can use an dump from here. But i dont want to spend mony on the dps vin chance file. Is it posibe without?

For UHS clusters (8 inch display) VIN is written during the setup stage (XML).
Also, you haven't answered about GDS2.

If you know original PIN (inside EEPROM) and car PIN - no issues to "marry" IPC with car with DPS.

Gds2 i have not tryed yet. I want to take an eeprom dump from the forum and read the pin and vin. Thene i can chance the vin via XML? Does anyone can provide the right XML?

As long as the security access is correct, you can change the VIN with any XML file. However, to resolve the "incorrect environment identifier" error, you absolutely need to change the PIN to the one assigned to the vehicle and perform an immobilizer relearn.

Can anyone provide an dump for the UHS 2014? I think the dump is broken from troy...
