I've got a 2015 Silverado VIN # 1GCVKREC1FZ362916 attempting to update to HMI 2.5. DPS shows complete but only thing different is it added the weather app. Still no Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Any help is appreciated

Did the vehicle originally come with the HMI 2.5 module? If so, program the HMI using the GM SPS service.

Yes, you will need to use a 2016 Silverado VIN to program the 2.5 HMI.

No it's a 2.0 that I'm attempting to change to 2.5 through DPS

You can try this HMI 2.5 calibration file for the Silverado in DPS format.

There's a few things to this...

 

- Did you upgrade the radio?

- Did you replace the center console USB without the SD card reader?

 

If you've done both of those, depending what that HMI 2.5 came out of, it *might* be an older version that needs the software upgrade (USB).  I haven't seen it too often but it's possible.

I'll add for the group too, the 2015 Silverado/Sierra in NA didn't come with CarPlay (they had an HMI 2.0).  There's rumours some 2015.5's had an HMI 2.5 but I haven't seen it.  I've actually seen some 2016's that didn't, they also have the HMI 2.0.  Anyways, as my previous reply, there's a few things you need to do.  We need more info in order to assist.  I need to know if you've changed the other components.  Mine didn't change until I did both the radio and USB, I've heard of some that got away with the USB but then Siri sounded sick lol.

What if the 2015 truck has IO6 radio?  Do you just need to change the hmi and usb?

It depends....

 

If you're trying to upgrade to add CarPlay or Android Auto, then you need a newer radio, USB (without the SD card reader) and an HMI 2.5 (you'll likely have a 2.0 - behind the glove box).

 

In any case, you need to VIN learn it and you'll need calibrations that match your vehicle.

Gotcha.  I wasn't sure if I needed to replace the radio or not.  Thank you!

I've replaced the radio, hmi, and usb on my 2015 Yukon Denali.  Everything works except it doesn't have Android Auto.  It just has Apple Carplay.  Am I missing something?

The HMI firmware needs updating.

How do I update the firmware?

Need to load appropriate update through USB port (takes ~30 min).
Someone may help you with a link, a I personally have only zip file for EU HMI update.
