I wrote a small instruction on how to get the 4G LTE Internet in a Bolt.

 

maybe someone want or can try to do this mod.

 

This no enable the onstar service again, only enables the wifi hotspot with any sim.

Does the onstar module transmit WiFi when the car is parked and locked?

 

I have a 4g portable WiFi dongle that I mod to my car so my dash cam can send me push notifications via my mobile phone, if the car is tampered with while parked. If the onstar module transmit WiFi while in locked park mode I would be interested in this mod. 
 

As far as i know On star is connected to satellites thru GPS antennas

I think it turns off automatically. my car doesn't have onstar, so I don't know how the AP worked.

the onstar have an internal e-sim. in spain works with Vodafone Operator. its probably, if apply this mod, the internal esim, end deactivated

Yes in advance technology vehicles, Vehicle Communication Interface Module. (VCIM) do use wifi or GSM signals for accuracy, In some vehicles it do effects internet traffic charges. 

@Troy Wifi doesnt work once the car is powered off and the radio turns off but if you turn off car with radio still on it should still connect. You can change ssid and pw with GDS2.

I no have success to make it work. Have soldered al as is, but there no service. Look like I’m missing some calibrations before OTA deactivation

yes you need to write some dids i can do this for you

@WSOpelthat is my onstar file from SPS if you can look at it. That is only where SPS download. There no Utility or xml files. only one bin file

The hotspot can be enabled using a bin with DPS....

My wifi hotspot is active and working, is visible from my phone and I can connect it. Isssue is where blown internal error and doesn’t see sim card
