You need to Identify problems:
  1. The CPU you are communicating with uses a 3 byte/5 byte seed key
  2. The DPS file is sending a 3 byte/5 byte seed key request.
  3. The security table looks up the seed key in the DPS file

The three problems solved will definitely stop the error you encounter.

Check in DPS: select security table, security algo..to check before program/edit DPS file.

Do you have DPS VIN change files for the modules?

DPS by itself cannot change VIN nor PIN in the modules. To change VIN or PIN, you need special custom DPS files.

Here is example for changing VIN in HVAC.

everything goes ok and it looks like it is programmed.  Yet when I go to “read info”, old vin is still there.

Post the DPS ProgramLog file so I can see the error log.

Those DPS Mec files "ECM_MecToZero.BIN" will not change the VIN.

To change VIN with DPS you need VIN change files that are for sale in Downloads section.

Or you can submit an order with the module's utility file, then I can create the VIN change file for that module.

Go to http://www.vxdiag.net download vx manager, and install and activate the interface.

You cannot pull files from a cluster. You can only use GM sps to get those files.
