I have a custom Hummer H3 that needs the VIN numbers on modules changed to match the ECM. The hummer over laps the architecture change from GMLAN to Global A. Will the GM DPS work on these modules that overlap this timeframe? If not would anyone have any ideas on how to modify the VINs in the Hummer. I have a 2009 E67 ECM in my 2006 hummer and I am trying to get all of the modules to play nice with it. GM used two different ECMs in the hummer. 2006-2008 use one and 2008-2010 use the E67. Most all of the modules are the same between all years except the programming in them.

So you have a replacement ECU which was fitted to the later models?

And you want to change VIN in all original modules to match donor ECU?

Correct?

It shouldn't be hard to program with DPS using the standard ECM replacement procedure. Or you could use some tool for direct flash rewriting, for example, IOTerminal works really well.

I will try to make sense of my project to you guys. I have a 2006 Hummer H3 that came stock with a 3.5L I5 and I decided to do the Alpha conversion on it. I swapped the 3.5L out for a 6.2L LS. This is relatively easy because in 2009 the hummer H3 came from GM with a 5.3L V8. Because of this everything is bolt on. The 2009 Hummer uses the E67 ECM which is the same as what's required for the 6.2L engine. With this being said I have all of the factory 2006 modules in the truck minus the 2009 E67 H3 ECM. From everything I have researched all of the modules are the same from 2006-2010 with just a program change. I would like to have the VIN's in all of the modules and the ECM match if possible.

The easiest option would be to put the 2006 factory VIN in the E67 ECM but HP Tuners will not let me change it due to the OS being different on the E67 compared to the 06 ECM. Does the VIN actually dictate the OS in the E67?

The other option is to change the VIN's on the EBCM & Transfer case modules. I have tried to do this through ACDelcoTDS EBCM but there are differences with extra sensors that were added in 2009. This is where GM DPS intrigued me by being able to access the code and change the VIN. The BCM was easy because I was able to tap into the bios chip, pull down the code, update the VIN in a text editor, and then load it back in.

Hope all of this makes some sense. I really appreciate all the suggestions.

Can you read the VIN currently stored in this ECU?
This way it will be possible to source (latest) calibration/utility files and then proceed with VIN change.

I have not worked with HPtuners, but I have heard some stories about some limitations forced by them.
I would not be surprised if they expect only some particular OS versions when it reads this as a Hummer H3 VIN and would not proceed any further...

Yeah, I have done all the programming on the new 2009 E67. The 2009 Vin is 5GTEN13L598148963 which is a Hummer H3 5.3L V8 and the 2006 VIN is 5GTDN136568143909 which is a Hummer H3 3.5L. HP Tuners is good but yes it has a lot of limitations. In my past life I was used to pulling programs and text editing them and then loading them back in. I also have a active ACDelcoTDS subscription for both VIN's.
