2020 Buick Enclave Cluster Installed on 2022 Chevrolet Equinox

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, my name is Deryck and I’m from Brazil.

I bought a 2020 Buick Enclave cluster to install in my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. A person from the United Kingdom did the calibration/programming for me, and technically everything turned out perfect, with a few exceptions.

The gear position does not appear on the cluster, and the oil temperature is not being read. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Could someone help me with this issue?

Everything else is working perfectly. However, one important detail is that this person from the UK programmed it using Opel Insignia software, because the Equinox never came with this cluster from the factory and he did not have GM vehicle software available. Even so, it still works perfectly apart from those issues.

If you’d like, I also have a YouTube video that I recorded showing all the functions working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPtoPcuBRSY

As you can see in the video, the gear position does not appear on the cluster, so I’m not sure what could be causing this issue. The person who programmed it for me tried every possible way to make the gear position show up on the cluster, but he was unable to get it working as well.

If the gear are not shown in speedo maybe the xml configuration its wrong

The oil temperature in some cars not works

have you the original vin of the speedo?

@Arbe_gtc

VIN 3GNAX9EJ0PL171440 — this my car.

VIN 5GAERDKWXLJ239026 — this is the car from which I got the speedo

Do you think that maybe a 2023 Blazer RS XML would work and then start showing the gear position information? Because the Equinox and the Blazer are basically the same vehicle.

The XML configuration is very similar across different models, although the XML files themselves often have different options. If you configured it with XML, you'll likely need to include everything missing from your original XML file in the new speedometer's XML file. Trying to configure the UHS with your UDD XML file won't work.

Do you know which specific XML parameters or sections are responsible for the PRNDL / gear position display?
Maybe I could manually copy those entries from the original Equinox XML into the new cluster XML.
Also, do you think the issue could be related to the transmission type configuration or vehicle platform identification?

Did the UK person do this remotely or did you have to send them the cluster? I'm interested in doing the UDC to UDD upgrade for my 2022 Trailblazer but not sure where to begin and would appreciate help (even for payment of course). I never thought that maybe a nice cluster from a different model altogether could work too, I wonder what other cars have clusters that could physically fit?

@MoeMan Yes, he did it remotely for me. He’s very good and also someone who likes taking on challenges. In my case, my cluster was originally a UDD cluster and now it’s a UHS cluster. However, the Equinox was never sold anywhere in the world with a UHS cluster from the factory.

Right now, we are running it with a 2020 Opel Insignia XML. However, we are studying the possibility of using a 2021 chevy Blazer RS XML instead, since it is very similar to my Equinox. It’s practically the same car, so I believe it may work even better.

But even with the Opel Insignia XML — it turned out perfect. Everything works, absolutely everything. He is truly very skilled with programming.

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox model was only available with the 1.5-liter LYX turbo inline-four paired with 6T40/6T45 transmission. A 2.0-liter turbo inline-four which is paired to 9T50 transmission did not return for the 2022 refresh. The 2020 Buick Enclave, 3.6L V6 paired with 9T75 transmission.

The 9-speed ZF 9HP automatic (Insignia Grandsport)

I hope this helps.

@Emmanuel Koomson It’s true, you’re right, but that’s irrelevant, because in the United States we also have the 1.5 Malibu with the same powertrain as the Equinox, and it has the similar cluster with the 6T45 transmission.
