New to this so go easy please ,I am looking for the easiest way out to change VIN and PIN on a used ECM .I have the pin for both ecms and VINs .Do i need archive files and where will I get them.Thank you all.

I have dsp and sps access ,its just I dont have cal files.If I choose "set mec to zero ecm" will that virginize the ecm.

You don't need any calibration files if you're using DPS...You can just create a utility file. The gist of the process is to unlock the module with $27 and write a VIN with $3B from VIT1. The pin is a special $AE message using GMLAN Interpreter $25.

I suggest you read the GM Interpreters document and come back with questions from there.

re: the MEC is the Manufacturer's Enable Counter and a value of 0 means you need $27 to perform most functions.
