I want to avoid the dealership for simple module and radio [info3.7-3.8] OS updates. What would I need for my own personal vehicle?

Am I wrong to assume that only the SPS software and an MDI is needed?

Truly, I just want to push my own radio [RPO: IOK] OS updates if anything major is fixed. Since those USB update files are not publicly available online and assuming someone around here won't provide them on request. If I can gain access to them and if that access also comes with the occasional module updates, two birds with one stone or whatever.

Yes, SPS access is all you need. It is also good to have a GDS2 on hand to erase any unnecessary DTC codes that may pop out after programming a control unit.
Use MDI only if it is original unit. If it's a clone - it will get your account banned.
GM wants people to use only genuine tools... (at least, not counterfeit MDI tools)

While expensive a new MDI2 seems to be the best option. To avoid wasting money on a clone that won't work or will end up getting blocked. Thank you for the link.
