seed / key - sps wrong

I have a small problem here in Australia with a few 6L50 transmissions and the T43 controller inside.

The majority of them you can go on SPS and program the latest files and it changes the VIN if you have replaced the transmission into a different car.

However I have found quite a few that will not program on SPS they alway get to a certain point and the car resets and programming error appears.

Taken me quite a while to work out what the problem is and now with DPS working (I am still learning so be gentle) I have found the problem.

SPS assumes that the seed is $1D99 and it uses the number 84 to unlock in the DPS bin file and programs away and no problems on most of the TCM's

However the ones that won't program must have been done wrong at the factory as they all have the seed $BB14 which is not what SPS is expecting so it cant't program and neither can DPS as the bin file has the wrong key.

Is anyone able to work out what number should be in the DPS archive to unlock that seed $BB14 ??
Thanks in advance if you can help.

  • It passed step 2.  That is the unlock step so that isn't your problem

  • Do you have a part number of the transmission on the side label? You might be trying to use an incorrect utility file, but that is just a guess.

0BRA is the label on the side of all the transmissions regardless if in a Omega, International or SV6 and doesn't matter is a wagon, ute or sedan. The utility file is straight from SPS and have actual bought VINS for 2 of these cars and tried programming them many times through SPS and now through DPS by collecting the files from the cache and that is how I found out what the problem is.

That is a 2010 transmission.  Part number 24255055.  Is this the file you are using? I'm guessing so since you said Algo #84

The seed for all the modules would be different.

Try a DPS get ECU data to see what it reads

0-24255907-Utility algo-84 and table-00 LAN.bin

It looks likely that GM Australia has not used Algo #84 when programming some of these TCM's as SPS just assumes it is #84 and that is what it should be but it isnt.

I will run that file when I get chance this morning bearing in mind it is just almost 6am here :classic_blink:

Here is the log it just errors out but you can see for yourself.

Might have to do it by going through the algos from 01 to FF only 255 to try or 254 as we know 84 fails :classic_laugh:

Ok I ended up pulling as many fuses as I could out and kept trying and f..........g finally it went through. There is nothing in the car that is not GM and/or came with the vehicle so it has me beat why everything else programs but not that until I pulled just about every fuse out.

Thanks for your help I think I going to go lie down now and pass out.
