Does anyone know if it is possible to change the vin on European E98 ECU (2017) with 5-byte seed? 

If yes, what would be the process?

I try to download the calibrations from another vehicle and therefore try to change the vin.

Would GM VIN Emulator work with servicebox SPS?

VIN changing is easy thru SPS. Emulator doesn’t worked with Servicebox last time when I try. If you share VIN might can assist you with calibration files.

hello Lyubomir. I would appraciate if you can get the calibration files for W0VZS6GP7N1046052. hmm, do you mean that, after connecting to current ECU with SPS in servicebox, I can easily change the VIN in SPS and download the ECU calibration files?

In most cases VIN change is easy with SPS, but leave problem if Tuning protection value in ECM don’t match with BCM. It has to be edited. Unfortunately I don’t know how to edit in ECM as is eeprom located and will require to open unit. Should be possible to be edited in BCM, but yet I haven’t got time to dig at this. If value haven’t been edited will bring P160D

What is the reason  that you want to flash other than the original Engine Cal files?

I want to enter into diagnostic mode and move the aero shutters. With another tool I would read the LIN Bus commands of the ECU to the shutters, so that I program my own controller of aero shutters and retrofit them to the car.

I have read EEPROM with i/o terminal. There the vin is stored. Is it possible to easily rewrite the VIN in the hex editor of the EEPROM dump and load it to the ECU?

When you have I/O Terminal then you can easily change the vin with I/O Terminal.

Thank you. I have edited the EEPROM dump with hexeditor without checksum correction and loaded it with Io terminal. The DPS and GDS2 see the new VIN.

And now it was possible to download the right Calibration files you needed?

In the end- yes. The ECU with changed EEPROM (with new VIN ) was read easily by GDS2 but not buy SPS. sps was throwing en error saying vin could not be read.

So I connected to the car with sps and in the field where I need to confirm the vin, I have enter the other vin. SPS downloaded the calibration files of other ECU while preparing for reprogramming .
