so after hours of scrolling I found myself here. I’m literally trying to fix one issue on a car. Long story short, my dream car was always a 2020+ Chevy corvette. About a year ago I got the chance to buy a wrecked 2020 locally that I could afford and took my shot. I’ve rebuilt the car piece by piece as I could afford one piece  at a time until I have it completed. Well. Almost. I took the car to have the power brake module programmed (new so no issue) and the rack and pinion programmed. Dealership comes out and says “we can’t program the rack, it’s a used part and was programmed with the VIN from the car it came from, so we can’t do it, it won’t let us, it’s locked to that vin” I thought ok, bite the bullet to get it finished and said ok put a new one in. One problem with that. The tech says they are back ordered. And have been for a while. No idea when they will get any in!!! So, can’t get a new one, can’t use a used one so?? I’m screwed. I’m here to see if ANYONE knows how to clear a VIN from a power steering module so it can be programmed?? I’ve worked on this car for almost a year and a half, worked OT to afford the parts, and I’m one part away and STUCK. Mad doesn’t start to describe it.. I’ve never programmed a module although obviously not new to wrenching. Anyone with any help greatly GREATLY appreciated. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Is this a C8 you're talking about? You said 2020+. C8s are a real pain but I can see what I can figure out tomorrow at work with a 2024 Sierra or a 2021 Tahoe. Should be quite the same since they are all the same architecture CANFD (AutoSar)(Global B) I'm currently working on clearing the VIN on the radio of this same car.

Yes it’s a C8. I love this car, that being said all the electronics in this thing are a complete nightmare, with finding parts being even worse. What I’m being told is where they were behind during Covid, they have never caught up, so all the parts that are being produced are being used for the ones that are being built. 

Everything is so new. Parts are becoming more available now. I will let you know what I can figure out tomorrow for you if I have the time. Have a great night! I'm currently working on converting C8 to European Market for some customers. VIN change is the issue for everything.

Yea if you get it figured out? PLEASE let me know.. I’ve got a really nice rebuilt car sitting in the garage that drives like a tractor… 

LMAO a tractor!!! That is hilarious! I will let you know. There are probably a lot of people in your same situation! The algorithm to write a VIN is the whole issue with these new modules.
