2022 Silverado 2500HD (Global A) IOR radio upgrades?

Featured Replies

Hi All, new to this forum, I am starting research on upgrading my 2022 silverado 2500HD Custom Trim (Global A I believe?) IOR 7" radio to 8" IOU. Not sure if this is frowned upon here, but I am wanting to go the EEPROM unlock route if I can find some donor parts.

My question(s) to you all:
1. Is this possible if I get the proper center panel replacement and HMI?
2. Do I just need to program the HMI? Or is the Radio Control Module also holding a VIN?

3. Any other tips/tricks to help me succeed? I know there are a lot of items on that front center panel that may take additional parts to make work properly (such as power inverter), but I'm not so concerned about making that work right now, if at all.

Thanks again for this awesome site and community, I have already learned a lot! PXL_20220301_020503122_MP.thumb.jpg.9424275cef575046e25bce945f8e0e32.jpg

@PLSA Can't PM ya, but this thread is what I'd like to do! IOR 7" screen -> IOU 8" screen, including the swap of the center radio housing to accommodate the 8" screen and controls. The 7" IOR has slightly different buttons on the control module than the 8" IOU

It is Global A! The 2022 2500 has the same electronics as the 19-21 1500 pickups.

Can't PM until I save my pennies and pay for premium membership I think.

Thanks for the helpful info! I have seen this kit but they say it's not for the 7", it's for the 8" screens. That's why I wonder how different the 7" is. Because I know there are different radio buttons for the 7", and I think it has a different HMI module. Which probably means different wiring harness.

Nice! Thanks for the confirmation. And by program do you just mean get around the VIN lock? (Planning to try my hand at the EEPROM read/write solution)

program the radio using sps or Dps and skip the eeprom hassle

Did you end up getting the 8" screen to work?      There has to be a 8" screen that has the USB hub plug like the 7" that would just plug-and-play.   Most of the 8" screens out of the Silverado are for the IOT radio controller.

No I never bought the 8" and tried it. Ended up trading truck in due to other reasons.
