I had nothing but trouble with the v4.4x versions of DPS on my system and all problems were resolved using the v4.5x versions and v4.5.4.1000 works the best as it is able to use the updated J2534 drivers that SPS installs.

I think it all depends on your system but people should try different versions with their hardware to see what works for them.
