Ran into my first global B vehicle that was in for an ECM.

 

Of course, shop put in used and i was unable to flash via SPS2

 

Thats when I found this site!

 

Looks like some interesting stuff to learn here. Can anyone fast track my first ECM? I do not have access to DPS... yet.

to flash used ECM, you need first to "virginise" from original VIN and pin, then Program to your current VIN. If they can't flash - change shop. Is nearly straight forward process

How to virginized is the question?

For global-A it's pretty achievable, but for global b... I don't know if Troy found anything more on this topic on Global B platform. As far as I know, it was more complex than the old Global A

There is few ways. Doesn’t matter A or B platform. Perfect way is to find and flash virgin backup from same ECM service number. Another way is tuner to read your and edit required values, then update via SPS and last is use Prepare for removal via SPS (that will “virginise” ECM). Have chance to have P160D due Tuning protection values, but that can be resolved. Or may be Troy can make ViN and PIN change file for your ECM platform. For last will beed more information (like VIN, ECM part/service numbers). 

Global A I have been able to program online with SPS no problems. worse case use HPT vin change.

 

A virgin file is a good option however i can ho device currently that supports reading an E90 ecu.
