IPC VIN Change

If you install a used IPC in a vehicle, more than likely the vehicle's mileage will not display on the IPC screen. You will need to do two things in order to get it working.

  1. You will need to change the VIN number in the used IPC to the VIM number of the vehicle.
  2. You will need to use GM SPS service to reprogram the vehicles keys (this is optional but if not done you will receive an IPC DTC). 

 

Use my custom DPS files to quickly change the VIN number in the IPC module.

    Usually in the car and not on the bench, if the IPC has the same vin as the BCM, the milage will show on the IPC. I don't know the issue you have, so I can't help.

    If you have DPS and a pass-through device, you can do a read info from the IPC to see if it's a 2-byte or 5-byte seed/key.  Troy has an example in the BCM programming:  

    From there, you should be able to get the appropriate VIN change above in this article (2-byte or 5-byte) then do the VIN change through DPS.  Keep track of the old VIN as you should change the PIN too and you need the old VIN to find the current one to change it to match your vehicle.

    I had a can bus wire break and since then my DTC change oil soon I have changed it and tried to reset it but no luck it wont reset. service emissions ,tire monitor,, read owners manual.

    Hello sorry so late I have been away from internet and normal 7-5 taking up my life. I believe my issue is with the broken wire I had on the DEF the system . worked great up until then and it shows that the def is low,the quality is low so I am going to try something in my wiring harness to see if I can make that go away?

    something that might help someone in the future is when reading cluster you need to read it on pin 1 not 6and14. adresss is 60. it tried for to long on pin 6and14

    is there any pattern, which cars are 2-byte vs 5-byte? Maybe based on models or it is not model dependent and within e.g. Insignia or Astra models there might be difference?

    I have replaced used IPC for 2022 GMC YUKON XL

    But Mileage is not showing

    I performed SPS programming but failed

    Is the DPS can do it ?

    The VIN in the IPC must match the VIN in the BCM for the mileage to display. Also, if you drive the vehicle with an incorrect IPC VIN, the IPC will lock, and the mileage will not display even after the IPC is later updated with the correct vehicle VIN.
